Justin Fields has no shot at starting Week 1, per HC Matt Nagy
FantasyPros
Jun 16

Chicago Bears HC Matt Nagy told Cris Collinsworth that there is no possible scenario where Justin Fields is the starting quarterback in Week 1. Per Nagy, "Andy Dalton is our starter. Justin is our number 2 and we are going to stick with this plan. You just got to trust the plan." (Source: Daniel Greenberg on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: This isn't the news that fantasy managers in redraft leagues were hoping to hear, as Fields has the potential to be a league-winner if he can live up to the potential that he showed at Ohio State. It seems counterproductive for a head coach to declare in June that his first-round quarterback has no shot at playing in Week 1, but the Bears are apparently committed to giving the rookie time to develop. It's unlikely that Andy Dalton holds onto the starting job in Chicago for the entire season, but this early declaration from Nagy makes this quarterback situation a difficult one to project in redraft leagues. Monitor this situation for updates throughout the Summer.
