Travis Etienne to be Jaguars' 'primary pass-catching back' per beat writer
FantasyPros
Jul 14

According to Jaguars' beat writer John Shipley, first-round rookie RB Travis Etienne is expected to be the "primary pass-catcher" at the running back position for Jacksonville in 2021. (Source: Sports Illustrated)

Fantasy Impact: This would be music to the ears of fantasy managers if only Etienne would also be given 8-10 carries per game. But with James Robinson and Carlos Hyde operating on early downs, it's hard to envision Etienne getting a sizable workload on the ground. He's been cross-training at wide receiver, so the expectation is most of the pass-catching work out of the backfield will go to Etienne this season. It's possible the rookie out of Clemson sees 10+ touches per game, but that likely leaves him as a mediocre flex play on a weekly basis. He'll need a few more carries and goal-line snaps in order to exceed his ADP this season.
