Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians said RB Giovani Bernard is "already going to be a major part of the offense."

"[Bernard] has been more than pretty good," Arians exclaimed. "He’s already going to be a major part of the offense." Bernard played as many first-team snaps (2) as both Ronald Jones and Leonard Fournette in the first preseason game, hogging both third-down snaps all to himself. Whereas one of Fournette or Jones have to be absent for the other to dominate early-down work, Bernard already has a strangehold of the passing down role, potentially carving out a larger job if he's allotted any amount of snaps on 1st/2nd down. He's the only player among Tampa Bay's backfield with a defined role from Week 1, limiting weekly start/sit headaches as a last-round pick in re-draft leagues. |
